Q&A: Can a married man and a single woman become very close friends without falling in love?

Question by sonia: Can a married man and a single woman become very close friends without falling in love?
Say the married man and single woman meet on a course so you see her a couple of times a week and have great chats. She’s single. Both of you are good people and don’t go around looking for affairs. Do you think that getting on so well will almost inevitably lead to falling in love (or at least one of the two falling in love?)

If he’s faithful to his wife then he won’t see her sexual and fall in love but she may fall in love since she is single.

Not a good idea. If he has any wisdom he will run far away from her.

Somebody who truly loves his wife won’t fall for another woman. In fact he won’t even think of her in a sexual way because his wife will always be on his mind.

Not necessarily “fall in love” but at least a fling or rendezvous! The man isn’t likely to fall in love. Perhaps the single woman will because she’ll only have the marry man to cling on since she has no one special in her life. The married man will look at it as a one-time affair or piece of meat on the side, etc. He will definitely not ever leave his wife for the single woman (with all due respect). He is in love with his wife whether he admits it or not.
