What is the excel formula to keep track of total vacation days?

Question by Just me: What is the excel formula to keep track of total vacation days?
I have made a spread sheet to track vacation days for our employees. The spreadsheet consists of 12 months, and employee has a row within each month and everyday they schedule a vacation day is marked with an x (so every “x” is equivalent to “1 day”).

I added a separate summary spread sheet where I want to have a quick glance of each employee’s total vacation days scheduled currently. What is the formula to add each of the x’s in their rows and have that total appear as a number??

You could use something like

=COUNTIF(Sheet1!B2:S23,”x”)

Where Sheet1 is the sheet name. If the sheet name has a space in it, then you will have to use single quotation marks like below

=COUNTIF(‘Vacation Days’!B2:S23,”x”)

Where Vacation Days is the sheet name.
